You Should’ve Known (Poem #4)

Your night of pleasure
is my lifetime heartbreak
You should’ve known

Another set of lies
will eventually
just make my heart shatter

Another set of chances
were hard for me to grant
but i gave it anyway
hoping this time,
it will be different

I trusted you on crucial times
made my love
a patch for your lies
I blamed you for every wound
because you should’ve known

I healed the wounds by myself
took you back
because i believed,
you will now know

but the wounds have healed
and i found you
prepared to cut it again
And I know this time i shouldn’t blame you,
because i should’ve known

Just reading and writing my way out of this messy adult life! I have transitioned from having piles of notebooks stacked underneath my bed from writing on the internet and allowing people worldwide to read.
