My Rating: 9/10
What made me choose this book: I was on a few pages of “Sad Girls” by Lang Leav when I decided that I wanted to read something else. I tried this book since I got curious about the title. When I saw the family tree and read the first chapter, I knew right away that I was gonna love it.
When I read it: I instantly loved it. It includes dead & beautiful girls, which is primarily what I look for in a book. It was also narrated uniquely. The author made sure to have a smooth transition between then and now. Unlike “Life After Life” by Kate Atkinson, I totally understood this book even when it went from then, now, and then the chapters narrated by each of the dead Roanoke Girls.
Why I was hooked: I wanted to know the reason why Lane’s mother killed herself, what made Roanoke Girls so special, what happened to Allegra, who was full of life, and what happened to the rest of the Roanoke Girls who just vanished like they are all cursed. At the end of the book, all the mysteries were solved, and I was delighted.
My general opinion on this book: This book is perfect for readers who seek mystery, along with family issues. And for readers like me who love beautiful dead girls in a story, then this is beyond perfect. Also, this book is narrated uniquely, but that doesn’t make it confusing at all. I highly recommend this book!
That would be all for this book. Thank you for reading!
