If I Stay

Mia Hall lost her family in a car accident on a winter day while they were about to visit a family friend. Her mom and dad (Kat & Denny) died. As well as her little brother, Teddy. She was in a coma for days because she was severely injured. She was so close to dying.

She has a boyfriend named Adam, who is a guitarist at Shooting Star. a booming band. They both love music since Mia also plays the cello (how they met and usually a bond).

While she was in a coma, she was well aware of what was happening around her. Her grandparents and her boyfriend talk to her, and she’s hearing them all. Adam told her once, “I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go if you stay” he played Mia a song, and her hands moved.

Where She Went

It was Adam who made Mia stay, but his life has ended miserably. 3 years have passed, and he still could not forget her. All of his songs are written about Mia, all those songs that made Shooting Star. He’s currently an insomniac, maintains distance from the other band members, and needs anxiety pills. He has a girlfriend named Bryn, and he lives with her. His career looks successful, but he’s still very miserable.

One day he decided to watch Mia’s concert. Someone spotted him, and after the show, she asked for him to go backstage. They talked, they ate, they went bowling, they got chased by a paparazzi. They spoke that time with honesty, and they cried. Words came out the way they should be. Adam asked the question that haunted him for years: “Why did you leave me?”

After the accident, Mia played cello all the time. She got accepted to Juilliard and had to leave her home, her grandparents, and Adam. Then they lost contact. It was the start of their misery.

The truth was Mia hated Adam for making her stay. Through hypnosis, which she tried with her mentor, she recalled what happened while in a coma.

Mia was confused after her meet recent meet-up with Adam. She loves Adam so much, and Adam loves her as much that he’s willing to quit the band to accompany Mia’s tour. Instead of leaving, they settled their schedule. They’d still meet, they would find time for each other even though they both have their own careers – after all, that’s better than not seeing each other all, just like the misery they went through for the past 3 years.
