Stuck (Poem #63)

It’s like you were covered with calluses
out of your stubborn heart that insists,
“I could not love someone else,
aside from him”

Cupid bent his arrows
when he tried to shoot you
flowers were wasted every time you said
“he loves me
he loves me not
I think he doesn’t
but I’ll wait until he does”

The clock will keep on ticking
and your heart will keep on beating
but that doesn’t mean
you couldn’t stop loving him

Everyone asked you to “carry on”
and the people behind you have pushed you
just so you get somewhere else
other than the place you’re stuck at
the place he left you at

Let go of the ties that’s keeping you from moving forward
because what makes you think
that clinging to his memories will bring him back?

Just reading and writing my way out of this messy adult life! I have transitioned from having piles of notebooks stacked underneath my bed from writing on the internet and allowing people worldwide to read.
