It Hurts, But we all want it (Poem #67)

Love is not a war

but why do people prepare for it

with armor, walls and shields?

Why do people have their hearts guarded and locked?

Why do they usually end it

with bruises, wounds and scars?

Love is not supposed to be tiring and chaotic

but why do people emerge from it

drained and heartless?

Why do lovers have to be enemies?

If love feels like a battle

then why do people wait for it

like it’s a battle they don’t ever wanna miss?

Just reading and writing my way out of this messy adult life! I have transitioned from having piles of notebooks stacked underneath my bed from writing on the internet and allowing people worldwide to read.
