Guy on a Shelf (Poem #77)

One guy came

asked for my name

and pleaded to see me again

One guy showed

and took an oath

caught me alone

and wanted to label me his own

But all along

there was this guy

who never left

the same guy

who played my game

All along I wished for another

because among all the guys who came

he’s the one who truly cared

the one I could hurt no longer

❤️
