Girl by Girl (Poem #110)

Lined up competitions
their faces light up in recognition
as if saying,
that was the guy I have loved
now look at the girl in his arm
I bet a month from now
she has given up
everything she used to have

Driven by the bitterness within
they speak up, without being asked
forcing each girl to listen
filling their heads with stories
of how hard they got fucked

Ofcourse, the new girl would be alarmed
for it was love that she was looking
but found a man that would bring her harm

Her head filled with doubt
their words kept her from falling hard
but after their stories were told
it was still him that she found
their grip wasn’t enough for her to hold
so she slipped
and went crashing down

Along the way as she fell
she came across stop lights
before she heard someone yell
“be still before the feeling gets worse
one wrong move and everything
will be your loss”

Those were the voices
of past lovers and girls
used for pleasures combined
everything they said were loud and clear:
“you’ll weep when he leaves
and he won’t even shed a single tear”

They were screaming
just to save her
girl by girl
versus one determined boy
and it ended quite like
the way it was expected

Their screams that she could hear
were shut down when he spoke
close to her ear

“Trust me” he whispered
and suddenly, it was all she heard

She was stubborn
she knew it would be wrong
she silenced their voices
until his silent pleas became the loudest
the voices didn’t help
because she ignored them all
and bravely took the fall
