The Girl Who Rarely Speaks (Poem #38)

There was a girl with a regular voice
and not using it was her choice
to her mother she never said
“buy me this” and “buy me that”
instead she crossed her fingers and thinks
“I hope she does”

The girl grew up to be a fine young woman
when people ask why she seldom talks
her friends would say, “she’s just too shy” Continue reading The Girl Who Rarely Speaks (Poem #38)

It’s Dark Without You (Poem #35)

On the very first day of your absence
it was like my mind and my heart collided
I was blinded, black all over
it was the kind of darkness that made me certain
that it will be dark forever

On the first month of your absence
both my mind and my heart fell apart
later on got into an argument between:
“forget him now, I just can’t and I’d rather not”

On the 3rd month of your absence
my mind surrendered and the heart prevailed
but sadly, no matter the victory
both remained in despair Continue reading It’s Dark Without You (Poem #35)

The Past Should Stay Where It Is (Poem #25)

I wonder how we could talk about love
like it was the worst thing that ever happened
or what made up of everything that once were before it ended, was never worth it

I wonder how we carry around love
like it’s the worst thing we ever had
we kill it, and spit on its grave
look for another, and then do the same Continue reading The Past Should Stay Where It Is (Poem #25)

Absolutely Not the Ex (Poem #18)

You told me about her
on the first day we met
and since then,
I knew she’ll always be a threat

I’d rather lose you to someone else
than lose you to her
because that would feel like
the entire time you were with me
you’ve always been loving her secretly

My Escape (Poem #13)

When the sun rises
you would be by my side
you would smile
and i’d say:

“Last night,
I remember you holding me tight.”
and you would shrug
thinking that what i meant was
a “thank you”
instead of a “how could you” Continue reading My Escape (Poem #13)

When the Ship Sinks (Poem #12)

Be careful with what comes after
having something that beautiful;
it won’t hurt inch by inch
because it will hurt all at once
you won’t flinch
but you’d get on your knees
silently screaming
asking yourself
what have you done to deserve it
